This is the story about how I came to the point in my life to be a relationship coach and how I developed the passion to reach out and help people to learn the skills to have successful relationships and live their life with their Best Friend during the day, Lover at Night and Partner for Life My journey to become a relationship coach began several years ago when I was involved in a painful, difficult and frustrating relationship which unfortunately was not the only one that I have had, but that’s for another time. Before that relationship started, I had been going through some personally challenging times and began to recognize that I needed to make some changes within myself. As I looked back on my life, I began to realize that I was making the same mistakes but I was not learning anything from them. Do you know what the definition of insanity is? “Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result” I was finally determined to commit myself to finding the answers to questions that had gone unanswered for way too long. I began my quest by reading and learning every thing I could about myself and relationships. I ordered so many books from Amazon.com; the Chairman of the company sent me a personal thank you note! My quest did not stop there. I attended lectures and seminars, found a wonderful therapist and even hired a personal coach. It took awhile but slowly as I began to gain a conscious awareness and understanding about myself. I was able to move past my denials, identify my fears and false beliefs, and heal some old emotional wounds from my early years. This gave me the emotional intelligence to be able to ask myself some brutally honest questions about my relationships with others and myself. As the journey progressed, I was extremely relieved to find out that I was not totally crazy. I finally started to grasp, how my “I” was responsible for so many of the problems within myself and in my past relationships. I realized that the problem was, I had not taken the time nor put forth the effort to gain the awareness, the knowledge and the skill sets to understand these questions; • Where I came from and how it affected who I am today? During this time, I became conscious of a passion that was resonating inside of me. I realized I wanted to help people gain the awareness, knowledge and skill sets necessary to answer these same questions. Then, I discovered coaching and how it can be the catalyst to work with individuals and couples alike. My desire is to help people re-connect to their authentic “I” and empower them “TO” make conscious and intentional choices, in order to find the right partner and co-create a space of “WE”ness together, filled with peace, love and joy. This is when “I-TO-WE” was born and it has literally taken on a life of its own. It has transformed my life and has become my passion and my career. I like to say if we have a solid “I” and a fulfilling “WE”, we will live our lives everyday with a smile on our face, love in our heart and most importantly, a soul that is completely at peace.
